Starting with Why: Tech + Nature + Maker

Ever since I was a kid, I've been fascinated with technology. For as long as I can remember, I've had a burning need tinker and to know how things work. Combine that with a love of the great outdoors and that pretty much sums up the core passions behind this blog. My goal is to share my experiences with Tech + Nature + Maker in plain English so that you can apply what I learn to your projects, ideas, hobbies etc.

I've come to realize that combining technology, nature and DIY can help us enhance and enjoy our outdoor spaces in unique and exciting ways. Hopefully, the info I'll share will help you apply the latest tech to everything from your fun backyard projects through to your earth shattering ideas and everything in between!

But before I get ahead of myself, a few background thoughts...

It's no great secret that technology is changing with amazing speed. More computing power is being packed into tiny packages, artificial intelligence tools are widely available, robotics continues to rapidly advance as does 3D printing. In parallel, the growing "green" movement challenges us to be mindful of our environment and the role we each play in protecting it. For me, some of the "green" ideas I'll be exploring include hyper-local food production, recycling, composting, backyard gardening and many more.

It's at this exciting intersection of technology and nature that I love to spend time tinkering and exploring. I don't profess to be an expert here but that's really the point. By sharing the details of my "learn by doing" approach with you not only will you reap the benefits of this Tech+Nature+Maker revolution but maybe you can help shape it too.

To paraphrase Thomas Edison, we often learn as much through failure as success, so I'll be sure to share those too! Some topics will be hands-on, others more focused on background information, research and random thoughts on the topic at hand.
